Research project

Outline of research project in our lab.

Please feel free to contact us for the details of the research.

Establishment of mouse model for HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND)

HIV-associated neurocognitive impairment (HAND) is a mild cognitive impairment in people living with HIV whose viral replication is suppressed by cART. We are establishing effective mouse model for HAND to elucidate the mechanism of pathogenesis.

Filmed in August 2024 and broadcast on J:COM Channel Kumamoto's “Philosophy's Door” in September,

this is an introduction video for the Hidetoro Retrovirus Research Center's Virus Pathogenesis Division.

The video includes an overview of the division's research objectives, daily experiments, and FlowJo analysis of scRNA-seq and FACS data.

Introduction video from when the division was established in February 2022

This is the introductory video of the Virus Pathology Division when it was established in February 2022.

Compared to the time of filming, the laboratory has grown significantly, and we now have one research fellow, one technical assistant, four doctoral students, and two master's students.

Isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from human or animal blood

Separation method using density gradient centrifugation.
This technic is commonly used.

Lymphocytes obtained from animal lymph nodes

A large number of immune cells are obtained from lymph nodes. Temperature control is important.

Tissue treatment of intestinal tract

By enzyme treatment, of intestinal tract or lung tissue, cells can be isolated from these tissues as well.
